No Fortune began as an idea for a music project between friends in 2016. The house was full of creative individuals, mostly musicians. Our goal was to create a unique new-sounding indie label for a variety of different music genres, along with video content. DIY is a big part of the music culture in Massachusetts. The only instrument that I sorta knew how to play was the trumpet, but other than that, I was always doing the graphic design part, like album artwork and merch. Back then, we were able to spend every day just working on our creative projects, we'd write and record a song, film the music video, make the album artwork all in a day. We had the opportunity to perform a bunch of live shows at local venues. Together, we were able to produce multiple albums and music videos, spanning various music genres. Eventually, our plans of an alternative music collective started to lose traction, so I made the decision to experiment as a clothing brand in 2017. I was able to quickly see the new potential as a clothing brand thanks to the online community r/streetwearstartup. I taught myself how to screen-print and invested in the basic starting equipment. I taught myself how to manage a small business. Living in a house of creative minds really motivates your work output. Create a new design on photoshop, get a silkscreen made with the new design, order the blank clothing, print the new design onto the blank clothing, shoot new product photography, update the website, then package and ship all orders.
That's the process. We still get together and work on some tunes every now and then but we have all moved forward to new larger projects.

Everything for sale has been screen-printed using my own screens. No Fortune is operated by one person.
